First rabun, now tendonitis? Aiyyyooohhh…

November 4th, 2009

And its like only day 4 dalam bulan November yang happens to be bulan comeback berblogging ni kan? Aiyoh… dugaan la dugaan. Pasai pa la tatau…

But definitely, for sure, ini kes baru and although ade similarity between misteri sakit kaki kiri Akak yang lasted selama sebulan tu dulu tu – ingat dak? Well, itu confirm kena gigitan anak lipan katanya. But this time around, Doctor mengesahkan, yang it has nothing to do with any gigitans yer. This time. which started yesterday la kan all of a sudden nih, is purely Ankle Tendonitis, which is said to be very common among active individuals (motif? Orang active kena? Isk… Kang jadi inactive, bengkak mengembang kat badan pulak – then how? Ish!), individuals who have either “flat feet” (kaki leper meh me? Hmmm…) or who’s feet tend to collapse in (“overpronators” – meaning yang selalu pakai HEELS kan? When me got selalu – last heels Akak pakai was in February! Ish! Lamanye effect tu nak serang, kan? Hahaha!), may experience pain and swelling along the inside of their foot or ankle (well, Akak kena ankle, and believe me, it is no good feeling ok, as this got to do with our tendon (tendon yer bukan tundun yer! ISH!) and this tendon is the one yang responsible for raising the arch of the foot, in other words, yang allows our feet to bergelak melangkah bagai la kan? Rasenya la kot; aaanyways… mrasalah Akak feels2 nak tukar jawatan, jadi Misi Nursie Berinformatif yer, allowing the rest to know, about this silent attacker and berwaspada bagai, kan? (what, is this one of those community service and advice posting kah? Well, so what if it is… hehehehe!)

Ankle Tendon
Ankle Anatomy - the affected tendon (posterior tibialis)

Ankle tendonitis is an inflammatory condition that often effects active and flat-footed individuals. Ankle tendonitis effects the posterior tibialis tendon. The posterior tibialis tendon runs underneath the “bony knob” in your ankle (see diagram above). The role of this tendon is to raise the arch of the foot. Ankle tendonitis should not be confused with achilles tendonitis as they affect different tendons.

Ankle Tendonitis Causes

Ankle tendonitis is caused by excess stress being placed on the posterior tibialis tendon. Those most at risk of developing the condition are people involved in sports that involve a lot of stopping, starting and sharp movements and those that are not properly conditioned to physical exercise. Sports like basketball, squash, baseball, tennis and football put a lot of strain on the ankles.

Individuals who are just beginning a new exercise program often develop ankle tendonitis. The tendons around the ankle are not conditioned for exercise and inflamation can easily occur. For steps you should take to prevent ankle tendonitis see the treatment section below.

In some very rare cases ankle tendonitis can develop from genetic abnormalities. The condition may also develop with age. As the human body ages the tendons lose their elasticity and become tight. This makes them more prone to injury and tendonitis.

Ankle Tendonitis Symptoms

As with all types of tendonitis, ankle tendonitis symptoms will start off very mild during or after an activity but may develop if left untreated. The main symptoms include:

  • Pain and tenderness in the tendon with close proximity to the ankle
  • The pain is often worse during or after activity or exercise
  • Pain in the area in the mornings and at night (advanced tendonitis)
  • Swelling, tenderness, redness and hot feeling around the area where the tendon meets the ankle
  • Stiffness during and after activity. When ankle tendonitis develops further, this stiffness may be felt throughout the entire day
  • Inability to bend your ankle and tilt your foot inwards without pain

You may feel one or all of these symptoms if you have ankle tendonitis. In most cases, the pain will develop around activity and subside a short time afterwards. This does not mean the tendonitis is cured. This is a sign that it is developing and steps should be taken to prevent tendonitis developing further.

Ankle Tendonitis Treatment

Ankle tendonitis treatment involves relieving the pain and reducing the inflamation of the affected area. In most cases the condition can be successfully treated at home without the need to see a doctor or purchase any medicine. To treat your ankle tendonitis follow these simple steps:

  • Stop the activity that is causing the pain
  • Apply R.I.C.E (rest, ice, compression, elevation)
  • Take anti-inflammatory medication (if needed)
  • Ease back into the activity slowly

If you follow these steps and the tendonitis pain keeps occuring you should consult your doctor. Your doctor may suggest further treatment options like steriod injections. In extreme cases, when all other treatment options fail, surgery will be recommended.

Ankle Tendonitis Prevention

Prevention is better than treatment, and ankle tendonitis is very easy to prevent. Here are some simple steps you can take to help prevent ankle tendonitis:

  • Warm up for at least 10 minutes before any strenuous activity
  • Wear the correct footwear for the activity
  • Check the ground surface (look for holes and uneven ground)
  • Know your limits, don’t put your body under stress it cannot handle
  • If you’re starting out, ease into the activity
  • If you feel stiff in the tendon after exercise, rest and ease back into exercise

Most of the prevention measures mentioned above are simple common sense. If left untreated, ankle tendonitis may develop into a painful and permanent condition that will effect you in your every day life. As you get older the risk is greater, so if you’re over 40 you must be especially careful.

Huh? Be careful katanya? I’d say, Soly hor… too late lorrr!!! *nangis*

Soalan bowdoh? Or soalan standard? Nak sentap? Or nak mengilai ketawa?

September 8th, 2009

Entry kali nih, yer, Akak mulakan dengan not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 questions yer kat tajuk diatas itiew – nah! Hamek! Hehehe… Tu baru persoalan yang diajukan, dalam title of the entry, belom lagi persoalan2 yang tak kesampaian jawapannye dalam kandungan entry ni lagi, kan? Isk isk isk… (Sambil pose pose vontots tonggek lite2, kening tajam membukit dan mata menjeling, bak Kak Ziana kite, lalu nyanyi… “Peeeeerrrsoalannnnn demmmi… persoooooooalannnnnn…. bla bla bla… tidakkkk kuteeemu, jawapannnn…”, KAN?) Hiks!

And so, next – Now that we have the header/ title with the 4 questions itiew, mrasa, lets move on to the BODY of this entry fulaks before I close it dengan FOOTER. Hmmm… Ala2 dah macam kata2 pribahasa tu… ape tah… yang… “Dari mata jatuh ke hati…”, kan? Ha, if itu peribahasa yang sedia ada, Akak rasa Akak nak register la pulak kat DBP with this statement/ phrase… “Dari kepala, jatuh ke body (mind yiew, bukan HATI yer, awas! BODY tau! Ops!), dan dari body, nak pi mana lagi kalau tak junam jatuh ke kaki.” Sedaps jugek, kan? Instead of saying directly yang Akak akan sedaaasss kasik penyepak-kaki-kidalkiew, tak ke manis sket kalo guna such phrase, ala2 ‘gua cakap, lu paham2 sendili laaa!’ kan? Hehehe… ada mau? Sorry. Kalau ada sapa mau rasa sekali pun, kena queue sebab dah ade dah 1st insan lucky yang bley mrasa tapak kaki Akak. Hahaha! Ops! Lalala…

Can sense dak Akak in the mood of, semi-cheria2-selalu, bersulamkan concept confused, upset, and most of all, kesentapan-ness…? Aiyoh – isn’t it obvious? LOL! (Bet Volksie dok menahan jer nak gelak, kan?)

Ape kesnye ni? Ha… mari mari mari, kite baca right after yiew toggle the ‘Show/ hide’ link itiew…

BBD was admitted into GH after complaining sakit ulu hati for quite sometimes now, aside from he very der tired letih lesu sangat sangats sejak akhir2 nih, started obviously a few days lepas kite start posa. Demam, batuk… gi clinic bagi 2 kali tak jugak nak baik2. His kondisi worries BBM, and myself. And after almost, coming up I’d say, to two weeks, memang no signs of getting any better. And suddenly BBD said he doesn’t mind going to the GH, admitted ke ape ke – I mean, for BBD to be saying such things ni, tandenye, dia dah tak tahan la with the sakit2 tu semua, and then timbul pulak he yang tak penah2 ade migraine, ha, got already. Penyakit2 lain, nothing yang pretty obvious…

Well cutting right down to the story, versi short lah kirenye kan ?, we move to the part where persoalan2 yang hat kat tajuk posting tu, took place – ala ala the situasi was somewhere somewhat like this:

  • Dimanakah location kejadian iniew: Sultanah Bahiyah GH, Alor Star; 1st-class ward, yang for those government & ex-government staffs yang entitled for it la kan, mostly senior state government la kan…
  • Siapa yang around the kawasan kejadian: The pesakit, duh, obviously la kan. Then BBM, me, my cousin the senior Doc with the Doc yang attending to BBD still OTW katanya…
  • Anybody else???: Ah yes – the training doctor…
  • What happened?: BBD tgk disoala-siasat pasai his condition, kirenye the initial check up la, verbal, by the training doctor, observed carefully but casually by my cousin. BBM was on the phone, me was there, mostly tulun2 answerkan kat BBD the questions about his medical history, supplement pills, vitamins, his meal-consumption routine, his activities, family background and so and so forth bagai. Throughout the course of the initial “patient’s profile” interview, the training doctor was so ever soft spoken, senyum selalu, mesra alam lah I would say this girl yang Akak rasa baya2 dalam, erm, let me see, I’m bad with ages, erm, tah la lah tapi memang la nampak muda. Possibly macam Ginger and Rania Escovarina la kan, sebab depa size badan kecil, frame depa haluih temetot, so mrasalah eventho dah tua bangka pun tetap can pass tipu-helah-katanya-muda, tak gitu gal? (Ops! Mati la mak!). Anyways, back to the young girl/ doctor training tu. Selain dari senyum sengih manis soft spoken segala bagai, during her interview with BBD, Akak noticed beberapa kali dia asik tanya ulang soalan yang sama, sikit2 tanya menda yang BBD/ or Akak dah penat menjawab, hang tak dengaq ka, yang tetiber hang gatai pi tanya again? Dah tu, selang beberapa soalan lain, mai balik ulang soalan hat tadi nuh. Ish. Awat la dia ni. Procedure kah? Or itu Standard Bengap dia? Cemana jadi doctor pelateh? Cousin Akak pun dah mula kerut2 kening, at certain times, pintas the doctor pelateh tu punye soalan/ percakapan and sort of like lead her to question the next qs or something la kan. But all that Despite all that, those repetitive queries, Akak still leh tahan lagi. But not until she went and ask BBD this one and only question…

Ok, tadi Uncle cakap yang Uncle sakit kepala, ulu hati, senak cirit birit sehari dua ni, letih tak bermaya semua tu yer.

And BBD was like, terus tercengang, Akak terus kempot terdiam, BBM terus hang up the phone and terus macam, terpinga2 like she couldn’t believe what she terrroverhead while she was on the phone, and the ward/ room suddenly like, errr… HELLO? Cousin Akak also trus kerut kening geleng2 kepala and terus like, “NEXT! Lets! Move on! Go to next q!” camtu la kan. Isk isk isk…

Of course lah we’re worried about our health and that’s why la kan we go there to the hospital in the first place. Tapi bila kite dah gi hospital tu, kite nak kena set ke hat mana satu penyakit yang kite nak baik dulu, prioritykan nombot satu to nombot last bagai ke??? Eeeeeee very der unacceptable sungguh tau! Soalan tu standard ka, or soalan yang dia SPONTANEOUSLY tanya!?! Isk isk isk…

Dan dengan itu, we come back to the 4 questions yang Akak soalkan diawal permulaan entry ie. kat tajuk posting ini yer…

“Soalan doctor si chantek manis itiew, bowdohkah? Or soalan dia tu skadar kuaqkan soklan standard? Nak sentap ke tak ehhh dengan soalan itiew as well as the doctors’ luvly q? Or should Akak geletekkan diri sendiri membolehkan diri Akak ni nak mengilai ketawa bak kak Pontianaks?”

Ennntah lahhh labiew… Why nots Akak do just about all 4, kan? Mrasalah Q itiew memang standard q tapi standard q yang sangat erm, lets not say bowdowh la eh, sangat tidak sehsuaiii sangats IMHO, and mrasalah because of that, Akak melenting sentap but before I do zats, apakata Akak ngilai ketawa riang ria kanak2 ceria Ribina dahuliew, ok taks???

Mrasalah the longer versi can be read kat Akak nye Cbox/ Cbox older messages/ archives - pepandai la hampa scroll. Kalau tak pandai, blajaq. Kalau tak rajin, proceed baca entry ni jer lah eh - kang disuruh2, katanya paksa memaksa piuler, kan? LOL! Kalu tak jumpe, Akak dah delete dah la kot - OPS! Too bad! Lalalala...

Dearest all, blog readers and viewers,
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarokatuh…

In just less than 10 minutes, habis lah 1st day treatment nak buang ‘IT’ tu… badan I nih berbau pinang/ sirih tah pe pe tah… Ewww!!!!! Sakit? Still – a bit – the whole day belakang tu aching jer… :*(

Sent mommy back to the airport today – eh – just now. Flight 9.15pm ex AOR to KUL on MH ape tah… couldn’t be bothered.

Pastu went for a drink with couple of friends – Miss Nabilla Natsha and friends (Miss G tahu kan kan kan kan?)

Then came back home – buat treatment tu (the daun sirih tah ape tah sapu kat belakang badan tu) and then online japs je nih just to put my last entry for the day – esok sambung la kot…

To Miss G – Never fear of being lonely. Of course you tend to forget how it feels like to love and be loved, but seriously girl, NEVER think you’re alone, WHEN YOU HAVE ‘HIM’ The all mighty and your friends… I know love from us friends cant be compared to the love of someone u really like and love, but the love from HIM and loving HIM – is by far the most precious love to be recieved and to give… Give yourselt time girl – don’t over stress yourself over this matter. Find love, NEVER – but let love find you, YES…

Take care peeps!

Goodnight and regards,
Sick Lea – hoping to recover…

Assalamualaikum….
